BLACKFIELD FESTIVAL 2011 / NEWS

Dear Blackfield community,

When this year’s festival came to an end, we immediately started preparations for Blackfield 2011 – since such a festival is a lot of work especially if it does include two festivals we need to organise and prepare.

You got that right : Two festivals!

After three years in the Ruhr area, the whole team is extremely happy to announce a second festival location:

Sat 25th June 2011 & Sun 26th June 2011

Amphitheater Gelsenkirchen (Ruhr area)

Burg Querfurt (Saale area in Saxony-Anhalt)

From the very beginning we had the idea of putting on a second Blackfield Festival. However, we felt that we needed to present you with something very special since the Amphitheater Gelsenkirchen already is the perfect venue- hard to top in terms of charisma, quality, and local conditions. So any other venue would also have to be equally distinctive to be an excellent match for the Amphitheater. Querfurt castle fully corresponds to these criteria and thus is a great festival venue. It is the biggest castle in Central Germany and its majestic shape can be seen from a long distance. Next year we and the local team at Querfurt will offer two well-organised, yet familiar and relaxed festivals, with a stunning line-up.

Next year’s line-up is going to be a manifesto for each “black soul“ no matter if you like electro or guitar music- we will definitely offer you a well-balanced mix of both and are happy to announce the first confirmed artists:

APOPTYGMA BERZERK
DREADFUL SHADOWS (only in Querfurt)
SONO

It is our first priority to have the same bands perform in both venues. However, slight differences due to scheduling difficulties cannot be avoided. The DREADFUL SHADOWS -who will only play in Querfurt- exemplify this but are at the same time one of our festival highlights. The band around Sven Friedrich (Zeraphine, Solar Fake) did a great performance at the first Blackfield Festival in Gelsenkirchen and will certainly leave a lasting impression on the audience in Querfurt.

Unfortunately, SONO were not able to make it on stage in time at the last Blackfield festival and thus were forced to cancel their gig. In 2011 the band will make up for last year by playing at both venues, Querfurt and Gelsenkirchen.

Another highlight for the “black-hearted” are APOPTYGMA BERZERK from Norway, an internationally renowned band, that has both seized the hearts of the people and also gained chart positions with their electronic rock and live performances that send shivers down your spine.

RECOIL 'SELECTED' EVENTS - NEW GERMAN DATES !

After a very successful leg early 2010, Alan Wilder has decided to return to Germany in November to present 2 further RECOIL 'SELECTED' dates.

Berlin & Dresden can already look forward to host 2 great events. Tickets will be on sale as of August 30th through www.eventim.de.

'Selected Events 2010' - NEW EURO DATES !

Good news! We have received so many requests that Alan has agreed to play a few more European shows to end the year with a bang. ‘A Strange Hour’ is coming back to Germany for two very special events. These presentations will take place in Berlin at Postbahnhof on Friday 26th November and in Dresden at Zeitenstroemung on Saturday 27th November – details below.

Says Alan: “We started the ‘Selected’ tour proper in Berlin back in March at Hansa studios. That was such a pleasure and we met so many appreciative fans that evening. Unfortunately for some, the show sold out very fast and many people missed out which is why I decided to come back and play these extra dates. I can also tell you that there will be some changes to the presentation compared to what we did on the first leg. I am working right now on musical additions, and we have set the film-makers to work again too.”

The exact line ups are still be finalised but we plan to announce one other special guest artist to join Recoil & Architect for the evenings. In Berlin, we also have an extra act – Northern Kind.

We hear that both are great venues and we hope to make it a real party atmosphere going on as late as curfews allow, with additional DJs and so on. Alan will also be available for a meet & greet signing session after the performances. To avoid disappointment, we advise people to buy tickets early for these shows!

RECOIL & GARY NUMAN IN CHICAGO

After just announcing the upcoming dates for Alan Wilder & RECOIL in North America, we can now present an outstanding event !

On October 26th double bill incl. RECOIL & GARY NUMAN will be held at the Metro in Chicago. In addition Daniel Myer & his project ARCHITECT will be opening the evening. Here the official statement by RECOIL :

Following Recoil's recent US leg tour announcement, we are excited to add another special date - this time at The Metro in Chicago on 26th of October.

'A Strange Hour' will be presented at a unique event - a double bill featuring both Recoil and Gary Numan! Gary and his band will be performing his classic 'The Pleasure Principle' album in full. Architect are also on the bill for this show.

With layers of analogue synthesizers and futuristic, dystopian lyrics, The Pleasure Principle's 10 songs are given one-word titles; not least the massive hit single 'Cars', arguably the first British electro song to dent the US charts.

RECOIL NORTH- & SOUTH AMERICAN DATES

We are happy to announce further dates of the RECOIL 'SELECTED' Tour. Read below the official statement of the RECOIL Mastermind Alan Wilder :

'Selected Events' 2010 - new dates in USA, Canada & South America

After the hugely enjoyable and successful jaunt around Europe, we are delighted to be able to confirm the first series of dates for the next leg of Recoil's 'Selected Events' tour 2010. One or two more cities in South America are still to be added, and more North American/Canadian dates will follow shortly too.

Recoil recently played a show in Mexico City and if the response there is anything to go by, this upcoming leg of the tour is going to be a something special. Says Alan "The Mexicans didn't disappoint, and I've been receiving innumerable requests from Argentinians, Chilians, Peruvians, Brazilians and many others in that part of the world for years now, pleading for a visit. I'm really flattered to be asked of course, and looking forward to it finally happening - I know we will have an incredible time in South America. Paul Kendall and I are planning a few changes to the live set with some new films as well."

In North America and Canada, Recoil with be joined by Daniel Myer's Architect as well as Conjure One for some dates - more details on guests to follow. We are also working on a special double bill in Chicago which should be announced very soon.

neuwerk FESTIVAL 2010

After already visiting Duesseldorf, Cologne & Berlin over the last years, this year the neuwerk Festival will take place in the state of Hessen / Germany.

The neuwerk Festival 2010 will be organised in cooperation with Electronic Dance Art and take place on the 27th of December in the heart of the Rhein / Main Area in the city of Langen (between Frankfurt & Offenbach) at the Neue Stadthalle.

SAM & STRAFTANZ are confirmed to play the upcoming Summer Darkness Festival in Utrecht. Bothe bands will perform on 14th of August.

neuwerk ACTS @ NCN FESTIVAL 2010

MODCOM & SOLAR FAKE will perform during this year's edition of the NCN Festival at the Kulturpark Deutzen / Germany. Both bands will play on Setember 5th.

VNV NATION SHOWS IN SPAIN POSTPONED

Unfortunately, the VNV NATION Shows in Barcelona & Madrid, which were supposed to take place this weekend, had to be postponed. New dates are :

Below the official statement of the band :

"We sincerely regret that, due to illness and injury, we have had to postpone the Spanish shows. Ronan is still getting over a flu which has badly affected his voice, and which doesn't look like it's going to be better in time for the shows, one of the keyboarders had to cancel due to an ear infection and the second keyboarder seriously injured his hand last night. With 3 people out of the live show unable to play, it's impossible to do the shows. We are very sad that we've had to make this decision and we wouldn't do so unless there was no other option. We really love playing in Spain and so we are rescheduling the shows. The shows will be postponed until the beginning of September. Our sincerest apologies for having to postpone and we are very much looking forward to playing on the rescheduled dates".

IAMX @ DARK DANCE TREFFEN

IAMX are confirmed to headline the next edition of the Dark Dance Treffen in Lahr / Germany. The show will take place on June 5th.

RECOIL @ neuwerk

We are very happy to start 2010 with a great new partnership :

the former member of Depeche Mode, Alan Wilder has decided to work with neuwerk on all matters concerning the booking matters of his project Recoil.
Among with his new release, which is called "Selected", we will shortly announce some special events to introduce the new material to the fans. Below the official news :

Recoil is set to release an album in the Spring of 2010 entitled 'Selected'. The exact date is still to be confirmed but it will most likely be in April or May. This release is a selection of classic Recoil tracks chosen by Alan Wilder who says: "The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience."

So far, the 'Selected' formats have been confirmed in a single CD version as well as a double pack CD format. The double CD will feature a second disc which will include many new remixes and alternative versions, again chosen and edited together by Alan and Paul Kendall.

In support of the album, we are also very excited to announce a Recoil Events tour which will take place across Europe and in the US between March and May. Dates will be announced shortly and you can expect some interesting developments as each city is confirmed.

We are working on those dates and will announce them shortly. Two of them are already confirmed :

the fans in Spain can already look forward to 2 RECOIL special events together with NITZER EBB !
